Con olas que fueron de 6 a 8 pies, comenzó el Billabong Pipe Masters in Memory of Andy Irons, tercera y última prueba del VANS TRIPLE CROWN OF SURFING, que como es habitual cierra el calendario de competencias de ASP.

Gabriel Medina fue el gran destaque del día, con una combinación de 18.67 eliminó a Bruce Irons (11.87) y se abrió paso a la tercera ronda. Kaimana Jaquias (Hawaii), Sebastian Zietz (Hawaii), Jeremy Flores (Francia), Fredrick Patacchia (Hawaii), Mitch Crews (Australia), Bede Durbidge (Australia), Dusty Payne (Hawaii), Yadin Nicol (Australia), Miguel Pupo (Brasil), Adam Melling (Australia) y Patrick Gudauskas (USA) lograron junto a Medina el pase a la tercera ronda.

El segundo día de competencia del Billabong Pipe Masters comenzará con la tercera ronda, instancia donde se encuentra sembrado el Top 12 y punto de partida para la lucha entre Fanning y Slater, los únicos aspirantes al título de campeón del ASP World Tour 2013.
